Space42 and Viasat sign binding agreement to establish Equatys with up to USD 1bn equity
Space42 and Viasat signed a binding agreement in Paris to formally establish Equatys, a shared space and ground platform for direct-to-device and advanced mobile satellite services, with combined equity commitments of up to USD 1 billion.

Space42 PLC and Viasat, Inc. announced on 13 September 2026 the signing of a binding agreement at World Space Business Week in Paris to formally establish Equatys, a shared space and ground infrastructure platform supporting direct-to-device (D2D) and advanced mobile satellite services (MSS) over shared non-terrestrial network (NTN) infrastructure.
Upon formation of Equatys, Space42 and Viasat will commit to an initial combined equity contribution of up to USD 1 billion as the venture’s co-founders. Development of the initial constellation accelerates with a simultaneous agreement to step up joint funding; Viasat is expected to be appointed prime technology contractor upon formation.
Equatys is designed on a tower-company model to provide a neutral shared layer of satellites and ground infrastructure so participating operators can reduce capital requirements and maintain commercial independence. The formation of the venture, constellation procurement and related definitive agreements remain subject to customary closing conditions, including regulatory approvals.
The disclosure is separate from any Space42 share-purchase matter and concerns only the Equatys co-founding agreement.
According to a Space42 and Viasat joint announcement disclosed via the Abu Dhabi Securities Exchange dated 13 September 2026.
