Burjeel forms day-surgery platform; names Lobo, Sharma and Baldo
Four UAE centres unified under one vertical; mid-term plan adds four UAE and two Saudi centres.

Abu Dhabi — Burjeel Holdings PLC (ADX: BURJEEL) has brought its four day surgery centres in the UAE together under a dedicated business vertical as of 1 October 2026, establishing a unified structure for ambulatory and same-day care, according to an ADX disclosure.
The group appointed Arun Lobo as Chief Executive Officer of the platform, Pawan Sharma as Chief Financial Officer, and Dr Omer Baldo as Chief Medical Officer. Lobo’s role expands from Senior Director – Operations; Sharma currently serves as Cluster Finance Manager; and Baldo, a consultant urologist, will lead clinical strategy, medical governance, quality and physician engagement.
In the UAE, Burjeel said it currently operates day surgery centres on Al Reem Island, in Shahama, in Al Dhafra, and in Al Dhahir, Al Ain. Its mid-term plan includes four additional centres in the UAE and two in Saudi Arabia. In Saudi Arabia, each Burjeel One day surgery centre requires approximately AED 140 million of capex and is expected to generate more than AED 200 million in annual revenue at maturity, with a mid-20s EBITDA margin, the company said.
Chairman and CEO Dr Shamsheer Vayalil said day surgery has its own operating dynamics and growth potential, and that bringing the centres together provides structure and accountability to scale the model while directing major hospitals toward more complex care.
The planned expansion forms part of Burjeel’s broader 18-asset mid-term growth programme across the UAE, Saudi Arabia and the wider GCC.
